CWU Annual Conference Health & Safety Lunchtime Fringe Meeting

As delegates make their way to Bournemouth for this year’s CWU Annual Conference, the union’s Health, Safety & Environment Department prepare for their traditional conference fringe meeting held on the Monday lunch time spot in conference week.

All CWU Annual Conference delegates/union safety reps are invited to attend the Health & Safety lunchtime fringe meeting organised for Monday 22nd April 2013.

Motions 90 and 93 were debated in the Health and Safety Section of the 2012 CWU Annual Conference covering the subject matters of Health and Safety Protection for our ageing workforce and Women going through the Menopause and effects on their working lives.

The Union's concerns regarding the need for employers to assess the needs and provide protection and reasonable adjustments for older/ageing workers, Men and Women and for Menopausal Women due to the symptoms associated with Menopause and its impact on working life have been raised with the TUC, HSE and employers.

Dave Joyce, National Health, Safety & Environment Officer said that the department is pleased to announce that the Guest Speaker at this year's Annual Conference, Health & Safety lunchtime fringe meeting is especially informed to respond to questions around the above concerns.

Jeremy Bevan is the Health and Safety Executive’s (HSE) Head Policy Adviser, Vulnerable Workers Health and Safety Policy Team, in the Strategic Interventions Division.

Jeremy will talk and give a presentation about the work he has been undertaking in these areas, developing HSE guidance for employers.

The H&S Fringe Meeting at CWU Annual Conference is traditionally a popular event, with over 100 - 150 delegates being in attendance to hear our high profile speakers.

Jeremy Bevan will speak and deliver a presentation for 20 minutes, followed by 10 minute question and answer session.

The H&S Fringe Meeting at CWU Annual Conference will be held on Monday 22nd April 2013 in the Tregonwell Hall (back) in the BIC.
